Lexington Group’s Director of Unmanned Aircraft System Programs, Alex Sell assists the UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MOI) in delivering the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Bidders Conference for the newly established Air Support Department (ASD) held in Abu Dhabi on 14-15 December 2015.

The Conference was an integral part of the MOI’s process to identify and select a medium sized UAS to support public safety and security in the United Arab Emirates. Industry leaders and key stakeholders in attendance included: General Atomics, Insitu, Safran-Sagem, Finmeccanica, Textron Systems and UMS Aero Group. Also in attendance were members of the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority and Abu Dhabi Airports Company.

Alex Sell remarked during the opening ceremony, “the UAE is a world leader in integrating the latest technology to support public safety and security operations and the establishment of the Air Support Department will greatly enhance the MOI’s unmanned aircraft capabilities.”

Alex, a former RAF Nimrod MR2 pilot and UAS Program Manager for the UK Ministry of Defence, has over 20 years of aviation experience that includes both manned and unmanned aviation. He is a leading expert on UAS training, operations, and organizational design.
